Other Ocean Group

Founded in 2006, Other Ocean Group develops video games for the industry’s most established publishers. Our games are played by millions of people around the world.

From colossal console franchises including Minecraft and Mortal Kombat, to massive mobile games Simpson’s Tapped Out and Super Monkey Ball, we have worked with some of the most prestigious brands in interactive entertainment.

We also work with a diverse list of entertainment partners such as Capcom, Microsoft Game Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment, Disney, Konami, Electronic Arts, Sega, Verizon, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros, and many more.

Because Other Ocean specializes in exploring and exploiting new technologies for games, our intellectual properties are constantly breaking new ground. Our Xbox indie hit #IDARB, was the first game to enable spectator interactivity via Twitch and Twitter, and we were one of the first to explore an open-world virtual reality experience in Giant Cop.

Our studios are based in Emeryville, California; USA, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; and St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador; Canada.  We also develop titles in partnership with Secret 6, based in Manila, Philippines.

The company has been named to Develop Magazine’s “Top 100 Game Studios in the World” and has won the Ernst and Young’s 2011 special citation for Product Innovation in Canada. Our CEO was also the recipient of Ernst and Young's Media Entertainment Entrepreneur of the year for Atlantic Canada.

Other Ocean Group currently develops for the following platforms: PC (Steam, Windows 10), Console (Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Switch), Mobile (iOS, Android), and VR/Mixed Reality.

Other Ocean Emeryville applies cutting edge technology to drive new game experiences. From #IDARB, a studio original and the first game to fully integrate realtime social media interactivity, to MineCraft for New 3DS, our veteran team of designers and engineers always ‘finds the fun’  to deliver high-value titles for our partners.

Other Ocean NL studio is a team made up of developers recruited from around the world, and is located in St John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador. We have produced a wide range of IP titles for various game platforms such as; Giant Cop: Justice Above All for Oculus & HTC Vive, RAD Boarding for iOS & Android as well as franchise apps and games; Ultra Street Fighter 4 for PS4, Mattel's Magic 8 Ball for iOS & Apple Watch, and NBA Rush for iOS & Android.

Sculpin QA studio offers a wide range of testing, support, and consultation services for VR, Mobile, Hand-held, Console, Web, and Desktop platforms from both our St John’s, Newfoundland and Charlottetown, PEI studios. We customize our approach from bug testing, UX & PX to post launch services including community management.

Named for our pioneering studio which offered the first commercial arcade game emulation back in 1994, Digital Eclipse is Emeryville’s signature brand dedicated to best-in-class restorations and remakes of classic games. More than a nostalgia play, Digital Eclipse infuses dormant intellectual properties with new life, re-igniting revenue streams and franchise interest with  today’s audiences.

Brackish located in our St John’s studio and was born out of our love of simple arcade style and experimental games. Under Brackish we develop generally small, easy to learn high score chasers for both mobile and PC such as Super Samurai Rampage, Zombat and Night Shift.

Sculpin Development studio is located in Charlottetown, PEI and is home to an elite team of developers concentrating on original IP for fun and innovative games on all platforms, with an emphasis on Virtual Reality Development.
